Meet Gurdeep and Kunjan Sembhi, who have been coming to our salon ever since we first opened our doors. The couple, along with their three children Veer, Shaan and Jaaya, are regular customers.
A family feel…
Gurdeep (G): I first had my haircut with Daniel when he was at another salon on Wellingborough Road. I was new to Northampton and immediately felt at ease in Daniel’s company. He has a comfortable presence, and he has carried that with him into his salon. I could arrive at the salon, be greeted with a smile, a delicious coffee and a meaningful chat.
Kunjan (K): I started coming to Daniel Granger Hairdressing when my eldest son, Veer, was 10 months old, and I have never looked back. The salon is so much more than hair. Daniel has offered both my sons work experience, to help them understand the business side of the salon. My daughter, Jaaya, is 12 and is neurodivergent, and she trusts all the stylists here. As much as she loves the stylists, Enzo the dog has her heart.
The best advice…
G: I personally come to Daniel for my appointments, because we have built such an honest and open relationship. I work as a solicitor, which is quite an intense job. Coming to see Daniel, and having that hour’s break where we can just talk about exercise, relationships, anything really, it makes the whole experience better.
K: Every stylist at the salon is an expert – and it shows. I normally get my haircut by Chloe or Ellie, and they always offer advice and guidance throughout. I have previously struggled with menopausal hair loss, and they always suggest hair supplements to take to encourage growth and protect your hair. They always do a good job with my hair.
You are not in the way…
G: Everyone has an even platform to work in the salon. Whether you are an apprentice just starting out, or a senior stylist, the level of respect for every staff member is equal. The whole team goes above and beyond with the level of service, coffees, head massages and conversations, because they love their jobs.
K: When I first started coming to the salon, I never saw children in the salon. I brought my 10-month-old, Veer, in and the staff would take care of him whilst I enjoyed being pampered. As a new mum, I felt trusting of the stylists immediately, and the haircut was great. Over time, you can see that people feel comfortable bringing their children in, and they’re never in the way. There is a bench area at the front of the salon, where my kids will sit on their IPads, or my youngest Jaaya will play with Enzo the salon dog. It is not stuffy or cramped, it is a warm and welcoming vibe for everyone.
