Meet Phoenix Alexandria, a 22-year-old student nurse, who regularly visits Daniel and Filip to look after her luscious locks. She shares how she nevers feels judged coming into the salon, and she urges people to take a leap of faith when styling their hair.

In safe hands…

I always feel so comfortable and appreciated at my appointments with Daniel and Filip. It’s so easy to feel overwhelmed or insecure staring back at yourself for over an hour with your hair soaking wet, but with these two you don’t see anything other than art work.

I never feel judged. Usually, I walk in there with hair that hasn’t been cut for over 8/9 months and probably wasn’t brushed in the last 48 hours. But I’m always met with excitement or kind words about how they can’t wait to get their hands on it and that no matter what shape it’s in, it’ll always come out looking insane. They’re all a bunch of artists let loose on hair.

My hair used to be very overwhelming…

Before I started coming to Daniel Granger Hairdressing, my hair was pretty long, very overwhelming and I didn’t do ANYTHING with it because of that. Also because of lockdown, it was just constantly thrown up in a bun or ponytail. It felt like a chore, rather than something I appreciated about myself. Now I am seeing Daniel, I enjoy styling my hair more, it has so much movement and looks flattering even scrunched up into a pony. The layers, the weight, the movement…. incredible.

My friends and family love my hair…

I always get asked who cuts my hair. Even when I leave the salon, or post anything on social media, I constantly have people asking who did it. So, I’m always more than happy to tell them about Daniel or any of the team. I normally spend around £100, I very rarely get it done and when I do, it lasts so long that this is such an affordable amount. I honestly think it’s worth more than it costs every time I leave.

Bring your hair to life – why not?

I’m usually fed up with my hair, it feels boring or stagnant and I want a change. I also want the change to be manageable, something that doesn’t require daily styling, but effortlessly looks like it has. Which most may think is an impossible task, but clearly it isn’t! I feel beautiful every single time I leave the salon, when you find a good hairdresser, you have to keep hold of them.

Don’t ever hesitate to do something different with your hair. It’ll grow again. Always be able to say “I tried that!” rather than wishing you did.
